Writer/Editor, Marketing Communications & Public Affairs (Maternity Leave Coverage)

The American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science seeks a skilled Writer/Editor to support the organization’s editorial needs from August through November 2019. Working approximately 32 hours (4 days) per week, this position will write and edit a variety of print and digital content. Location: New York City, reporting to the Vice President of Marketing Communications & Public Affairs.

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Write and edit print and digital copy, such as feature stories, press releases, video scripts, event reporting, interviews, staff newsletter, ads, etc. Contribute content to website.
  • E-philanthropy: Edit and proofread content for e-mail blast campaigns and fundraising appeals.
  • Social media: Draft, publish, and review content for daily posts on social channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Monitor and respond to comments as needed.
  • Edit/proofread direct mail content.
  • Write remarks and letters for volunteer leaders and for senior staff.
  • Proofread and edit a variety of marketing materials and correspondence.

 

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Exceptional and versatile writer and editor.
  • Thorough understanding of all communications channels, including print and digital.
  • Understanding and experience with not-for-profit marketing/communications strategies.
  • Well-versed in different social media platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Multi-task oriented. Demonstrates efficient time management.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
